Abstract

ABSTRACT
Consumptive behavior among university students in the digital era is a complex phenomenon shaped not only by financial availability but also by psychological factors and financial literacy. This study analyzes the influence of financial literacy, financial stress, and income stability on the consumptive behavior of students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Perwira Purbalingga. Using a quantitative survey design, 166 respondents were randomly selected from a population of 281 students via the Slovin formula, with the Theory of Planned Behavior as the theoretical framework. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS. Results show that financial literacy and financial stress each have a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior, while income stability shows no significant effect. These findings suggest that financial knowledge and stable income alone are insufficient to alter students' consumption habits, whereas financial pressure drives spending as a form of emotional coping. The study concludes that psychological factors, particularly financial stress, play a more decisive role in shaping consumptive behavior than financial literacy or income stability. This implies that financial education for students should focus on self-control and emotional management, rather than solely on improving financial understanding or ensuring stable income.
Keywords: Financial Literacy, Financial Stress, Income Stability, Student Consumptive Behavior.
